We’re just about to start week 3 of flower. The plan, most likely for this weekend, is to hit a few branches with some pollen. This is very new for me, so hoping I can do this right. Assuming my pollen is viable, it’s been in a bag in a cool place for about 6 weeks, I’ll be “dusting” a few branches on the females to produce some seeds. Here’s the “loose plan”:
This is the male I picked. It’s from T Squared Manifestations, the cultivar is Velvet Locomotive (Twisted Velvet x OGKBv2.1) x Peanut Butter Breath. This male looked so great and vigorous in veg. Later, the pollen sacs took on some color, and the leaves began to turn colors as well. I’m planning on hitting my Jorge’s Diamonds x Hiydrow plants, as well as my THCV plants.
I saw a video on Youtube or Instagram that I’m going to follow. The process is to put each female plant, separately, in the tub area. I’ll cover all but one branch with a trash bag. The exposed branch will be dusted with pollen and left for a few hours. I’ll then spray down that branch with like a water spray bottle, to hopefully, make any loose pollen inactive. The bag will be removed and the plant placed back into the tent. I’ll repeat this for the females, as well as tag the branches that have been pollenated for reference.
I’m looking to increase THC in the crosses, but still maintain high CBD and THCV, respectively. Time will only tell, but I have to admit, it’s exciting to try out some breeding, or “pollen chucking”, since I’m no where near qualified to be a called a “breeder”.
More to come, so stay tuned!
