I think for someone new, soil might be the easiest to start with. If you’ve planted anything in your life, then you’ve got a little experience just working with soil. That being said, I didn’t know where to begin or what I needed, especially for cannabis. It’s not like there’s a potting soil or garden soil specifically for cannabis. I needed something easy, not too complicated, and prone to me screwing it up. People will probably hate this but I went with Miracle Gro Garden Soil (general all-purpose, non-moisture control), and amended it with some earthworm castings. Here’s how I mixed it:
- 14 quarts of Miracle Gro Garden Soil
- 3 quarts of earthworm castings
I just hand mixed it and the 17 quarts was generally enough to fill my 5 gallon fabric pot to about 2 inches from the top. I repeated again and filled another 5 gallon fabric pot.
I then transplanted my clones and initially gave them 4 cups of filtered water per pot.
